Before You Begin
This guide walks through removing MDM profiles from any iPhone model, from iPhone 5S to iPhone 17 Pro Max. The process works on iOS 12 through iOS 26.
Important: Ensure you have legitimate ownership of the device. MDM bypass should only be performed on devices you own or have authorization to modify.
Requirements
- Mac computer (macOS 10.15 or later)
- USB Lightning or USB-C cable
- iPhone displaying the "Remote Management" screen
- UnlockMDM software (downloaded from official website)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1 Download UnlockMDM
Visit the UnlockMDM website and download the latest version for macOS. If macOS displays a security warning, right-click the app and select "Open" to proceed.
2 Connect Your iPhone
Use a USB cable to connect your iPhone to your Mac. When prompted on the iPhone, tap "Trust This Computer" if the option appears. Keep your iPhone on the Remote Management screen.
3 Register Your Device
UnlockMDM will detect your iPhone and display its serial number. Click "Register Device" to activate your license. Enter your name and email to complete registration.
4 Remove MDM Profile
Once registered, click "Remove MDM" to start the bypass process. The tool will modify system configuration files to remove the MDM enrollment. This typically takes 2-5 minutes.
5 Complete Setup
Your iPhone will automatically restart. Continue through the setup process normally. The Remote Management screen will no longer appear.
Done! Your iPhone is now free from MDM restrictions. You can install any apps, use all features, and update iOS normally.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues during the process:
- Device not detected: Try a different USB cable or port. Ensure iTunes/Finder recognizes your device.
- Process stuck: Force restart your iPhone (press and release Volume Up, then Volume Down, then hold Power) and try again.
- MDM returns after reset: This is normal. Simply run UnlockMDM again using your existing registration at no extra cost.
After Removal
With the MDM profile removed, your iPhone functions normally:
- Install apps from the App Store without restrictions
- Change all device settings freely
- Update to newer iOS versions
- Restore from iCloud or iTunes backups
